Different Workouts, Different Results
It may not be obvious that different types of workouts lead to different changes in the way your body will look. A marathon runner looks different from a boxer or a gymnast. Here I'll show what the difference in results are between working out with kettlebells and a typical bodybuilding approach.
Before I knew about kettlebells, I used the bodybuilding-type workouts to get in shape. Up until then I made my greatest progress physically using the approach from Body-for-LIFE. After a while I went away from that and eventually discovered kettlebells and Pavel Tsatsouline's unique approach to exercise and strength training.
Since I documented both methods with pictures, I thought this might be a good way to demonstrate how these different methods lead to differences in physical appearance. The picture on the left was achieved primarily through kettlebell workouts and the picture on the right via traditional bodybuilding techniques.

I was a little bit leaner in the picture on the left, but the differences are pretty obvious... Using kettlebells I didn't have as much of a "rounded" look to my muscles as in the bodybuilding photo. KBs lead to more of a lean, tight look than the BB method.
Pick your method, pick your look.
Of course you can combine both methods and get a little of each as well.

Both are incredibly impressive photos, but, these days the shot on the left is probably a far more desired physique for most. Probably because we know the physique was built on a variety of training methods--KBs, pushups, mountain biking (from early on in the blog and your eBook), etc. Strict bodybuilding for bodybuilding's sake is a wonderful pursuit for those "into" that activity, but, I think people are seeking more than big muscles these days.
From a personal perspective, functionality, fun and for me, not having to rely on a gym, is a major factor in my training approach.
Thanks, and I tend to agree with you, however I think there are still a lot of guys out there who want to look "big".
With kettlebells it is possible to do some BB type exercises and mix them in with KB-style exercises. It can get expensive though, as one would tend to want to do the BB stuff with a pair of equal weight KBs. Right now I only have the following: one 18lb kettlebell (my wife's), a 36lb and a 54lb KB.
On the other hand, in the long run it would still be cheaper than a gym membership...
