Fat Loss: Week Five, Day Four
I was conservative with food today, and having kept busy, didn't get as hungry as I might. Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention and although I did well on total calories, I only had half as much protein as I had in mind.
Click here for today's diet journal.
As someone mentioned in a comment here, I decided to try the Superslow method for today's workout. I'm sure I wasn't doing it as slow as I was supposed to, but I did each set far slower than usual.
I have to say I didn't enjoy it much as just getting to 10 repetitions caused quite a burning sensation, even with light weight, but we'll have to see how it feels tomorrow. I tried to avoid anything that would strain my right hip flexor, which is where I believe I injured myself a couple of days ago. I'm really annoyed with myself as I feel like I'm back to where I was a few months ago... I have to use my hand to lift my leg to get into the car or take off my shoe. Grrr....
7:15PM - Workout duration: 10 minutes
- 10 squats (54 lb kettlebell)
- 10 curls (18 lb KB)
- 10 military presses (18 lb KB)
- 10 pushups
- 10 crunches
The above took 10 minutes due to how slowly I did each rep. I did not rest at all in between exercises.
Hi Vic,
Good Luck with all your goals.
I have great empathy regarding the challenges of back pain and the drive to lead an active, fulfilling life.
Have you tried using the JumpStretch ( IronWoody or other similar product,) bands ? The one technique of wrapping the band around your waist and the two loops around your knees creates a very pleasant traction-relief for the low back. Some gentle pelvic tilts with the bands in the same position also feel great.
Don't know if this would be contraindicated for you, ( can't see how it would be,) but if you're medically cleared to give a try, I highly recomend you do so. ( I plan to play with the rest of their flexability routine and see how it helps my back "stuff". You can see it at www.jumpstretch.com at the flexability section of the site.)
Best,
Eddie
Eddie,
I actually purchased some jumpstretch bands quite a while back. They were one of those items that I used a couple of times but then shoved in a closet.
One of the things that I really dislike is passive exercises like stretching. Just drives me nuts for some reason... like the time could be better spent doing something else. Of course I know that's not accurate, it's just how my brain twists it.
Thanks for reminding me about those, though!
Vic
