Fat Loss: Week Four, Day Six
Well today I have to say that the title of this entry is probably a misnomer... the day started out well enough with my heading out to do some volunteer work at my daughter's school, fully expecting to find the requisite donuts there. So I had a protein drink, a banana and some coffee to sate my hunger so those Krispy Kremes wouldn't be as tempting.
It actually worked, although they called out to me everytime I walked by.
Lunch went well as did my late afternoon meal, but then came dinner...
My family was quite hungry and my wife didn't know what to fix for dinner, so on the way home I suggested PIZZA. We wanted to try out a pizza place that came highly recommended, instead of the usual Papa Johns or Papa Murhpy's stuff. And no, Pizza Hut, Domino's or (shudder) Little Caesar's aren't even a consideration.
Anyway, it turned out to be the best pizza we'd had in a long time, and I made a major miscalculation while having dinner. I had assumed that each slice was about 250 calories while in fact each one was closer to 500 calories.
So much for today's calorie target. I exceeded it by 1,100 calories!
Considering I'll be doing my weekly measuring tomorrow morning, this was probably not the best choice for today.
Oh well... I guess tomorrow I'll be a bit more restrained in my non-calorie-counting ways.

At least today I had a short but gut-busting workout before lunchtime. I wanted to take a couple of exercises and take them to the max to see how I've improved in the last 4 weeks. When I started out I could do about 20 swings tops with the 36 lb kettlebell and 20 regular pushups.
Here's where I stand today:
11AM - Workout duration: 11 minutes
- 70 alternating one-handed swings (36 lb kettlebell)
- 40 two-handed swings (36 lb KB)
- 35 pushups with feet elevated
- 10 crunches
I didn't do more crunches because by that point I was starting to feel like I was going to puke...
It's really amazing how one's strength and endurance can improve over such a short period of time when using kettlebells.
