Fat Loss: Week Seven, Day Five

I knew that we were going to celebrate an early Father's Day with a nice dinner, so I purposely ate very little during the day. By the time dinner rolled around I had only eaten less than 700 calories.

At dinner I found that I didn't really feel like stuffing myself until I couldn't eat another bite, and I actually found that interesting. In the past I would look at events like this as a "no holds barred" eating situation and just pig out, but with all the progress I've made and perhaps because I'm just used to smaller portions, I ate until I felt somewhat satisfied and that was enough.

Now here is the interesting/scary part... This morning I went and calculated the calories for the meal, and although I did eat conservatively, because it involved New York steak, wine and chocolate cake, the one meal alone came to over 1,900 calories! (Thank goodness I ate so little during the day!) Shocked

My point is that I was eating conservatively (for lack of a better term) for the type of meal it was: I didn't finish my huge steak, I had a small portion of mashed potatoes and a very small piece of chocolate cake, and the total for the meal was still outrageous.

Imagine if this had been at a restaurant (this meal was home-cooked) with it's gigantic portions and the typical person's mentality of eating until they're absolutely stuffed. Someone eating this meal could have easily consumed almost 3,000 calories at one sitting!

That's something to think about.

As far as workout goes, I wanted to see how many swings I could do in one set as well as how many I could stand in one workout. I managed to crank out 160 reps one-handed with the 36 lb kettlebell in about 12 minutes.

2PM - Workout duration: 14 minutes
- 70 alternating one-handed swings (36 lb kettlebell)
- 30 one-handed swings (36 lb KB)
- 30 one-handed swings (36 lb KB)
- 30 one-handed swings (36 lb KB)
- 40 pushups
- 30 second side bridge each side
