Great Cross-Section of Weight Loss Advice
John DuCane (owner of www.dragondoor.com) posed a question over at the strength training forum on his site asking folks what they thought were the best no-brainer methods for losing weight. There are a lot of really knowledgeable folks over on that board and I recommend you stop by to see what they had to say.
He asked the same question on the nutrition forum and you'll find some additional ideas there.
Lots of different ideas and points of view on how to lose weight easily and for the long term. My suggestions included:
- Smaller portions
- Eliminate processed foods as much as possible from one's diet
- Drink more water
It's what I tell eveyrone. Now if I could only take my own advice more seriously...
Heh... now THAT's the trick, isn't it?

I keep working on it. But hey how hard would the choice be between Bacon and Brocolli? One is a strip of artery-hardening fat, the other is one of the healthiest veggies out there. But yet the bacon smells and tastes so much better. Human nature being what it is... the bacon most often wins
Jeliel, I hear ya, bud. I find that the easiest way to make the choice is to not have to MAKE the choice. If there's no bacon in the house I can't cook it, can I? Bring on the broccoli.
Of course eating out is a different story, and self-discipline is always a part of the weight-loss equation. For me, what I do is consider a Denny's Grand Slam breakfast a TREAT (same as I would a piece of cheesecake), and not a regular breakfast. So I might eat that maybe once or twice a month.
