Radical New Exercise: Walking
With so many ways of earning a living where you sit like a lump in front of a computer monitor (mine included) and not feeling like you have the time to work out, you might want to consider this radical exercise method:
Walking.
Ok, so it's NOT radical, but how many people go out and even walk one measly mile per day? One mile at a leisurely pace should take about 20 minutes. Don't have the time? How about instead of after eating dinner and doing the dishes heading directly for the couch and the remote, grab the family and go for a walk around the neighborhood?
We've started doing this and we really enjoy it (heck, the dog has to be walked anyway). It's amazing how much you miss when you drive down a street as opposed to walking on the sidewalk, and it's a nice way to get the family doing some exercise all together without it being a terribly sweaty and stress inducing ordeal.
Try it sometime and make it a habit, you'll be glad you did.
Hi there. I have made it a concerted effort to walk 15 minutes (1 mile) in the morning and one in the afternoon each weekday. That is my break from the computer. That way I get in 10 miles a week for sure. Then I add other exercise in on some evenings and on the weekend. I also have 1lb soft hand weights that I use to do bicep curls and tricep extensions plus some deltoid lifts while I am walking (low weights and hi reps for women). It's not much but it keeps the bi's and tri's and delt's toned. It gets done quickly, doesn't take any extra time, I hardly have to think about it, and I get the benefit. Now all I have to do is work on the core. Now that's the challenge for me! Hugs to you and yours.
Britta, sounds like you're doing great!
Best to you,
Vic
