Some Exercise is Better Than None
Everybody has days and weeks where life gets crazy and working out falls to the bottom of the priority list. The tendency is to just completely blow off exercise if you can't find 20 or 30 minutes to set aside to work out.
Instead of doing that, if you reach a point in your day where you think you might have been able to squeeze in some exercise if you weren't so busy, I'll bet you could still get in five minutes or so. Of course this only works if you don't have to haul yourself off to a gym... that's why I love kettlebells as I can always keep them handy.
This is especially important if you've already made a lot of progress... you don't want to go a whole week without doing anything. If you're swamped I guarantee that if you have a kettlebell you can squeeze in a few swings, snatches or one-legged deadlifts. If you don't have a KB you can always crank out a couple of sets of pushups, crunches and side bridges.
Even a little exercise can help keep you in the groove. If you've worked hard to build up the workout habit but life has gotten crazy, just throw enough exercise in there to keep you in that mode until things settle down.
Of course this isn't an excuse to drop down from 20 minutes workouts to 5 minute workouts permanently... Do that and you'll be very disappointed with your long term results.
